Michael joins 22V Research from Eurasia Group, the political advisory. As practice head for China and Northeast Asia, he guided global investors and firms through political and geopolitical developments ranging from US-China tensions to China’s stimulus policies and regulatory crackdowns.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, he was the US Treasury Department’s chief representative in China from 2013-2016. In this capacity, he engaged closely with Chinese officials on a broad range of macroeconomic and financial issues and advised senior US government officials on key developments in China. He spent a total of ten years working on international financial and economic issues for the Treasury as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Michael has an MA in international affairs and China studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a BA from Pomona College.
