US and Iran public posturing resemble mid- rather than late-stage negotiation tactics. Washington has yet to close the deal with Epic Fury partner Israel or their shared enemy. Regional powers, including Iran, at times pull apart peace for well-known motivations while Washington’s desire for de-escalation further enhances Israel and Iran’s influence. Hardliners in both countries retain negotiation advantage. The risk to US domestic and international policy risk in global perceptions of Trump’s political capital potency, with the midterms perhaps serving as a determinative indicator.

Maryland, New York, and Uth hold congressional primaries.

Wednesday

Fed Board releases bank stress test results and has said capital requirements will not be affected. This version tests against severe domestic and global recession scenarios.

BoJ deputy governor Ryozo Himino delivers recovering Governor Ueda’s remarks at the national Shinkin conference. The bank also releases Summary of Opinions from it latest policy meeting.

Thursday

3:40p.m., New York Fed Bank’s Williams keynotes the Crane’s Money Fund Symposium, Jersey City.

6:30p.m., Fed’s Goolsbee engages moderated discuss about the forces shaping monetary policy and what they mean for the American economy at Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

Friday

The 25th BIS Annual Conference in Basel, Switzerland, will focus on “Central banks and macro-financial stability in a fragmented global economy.”

11:30a.m., Minneapolis Fed Bank’s Kashkari participates in a panel at the Aspen Ideas Festival.
